The Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, South Korea has grown from five members in 1958 to over 800,000 members today. One tenth of the current 10 million Christians in South Korea were baptized at that church.
The Reverend David Yonggi Cho founded the church in 1958. He was suffering from tuberculosis when Jesus appeared and told him the way to be healed from tuberculosis was to preach the Christian gospel. Cho quickly converted from Buddhism and has spent his life preaching Jesus Christ. His church emphasizes tithing, prosperity through living the gospel, community service–and women in the ministry.
